MUKHYA MANTRI KANYA SUMANGLA YOJANA
Women empowerment is one of the commitments of the state govt. of U.P. It has dedication to the goal of upliftment of women in the state. Keeping in view this vision of women empowerment the decision to launch Mukhya Mantri Kanya Sumangla Yojana was taken by the govt. in March 2019. The main aim of this scheme is becomes to stop female feticides, create gender balance, stop vicious practices of child marriage, promote education, create heath awareness and make girls of the state self-reliant and develop positive attitudes towards women in the society.
Mukhya Mantri Kanya Sumangla Yojana has been implemented in Uttar Pradesh since 01/04/2019. In this plan, the girls studying in Govt. colleges and Govt. aided Degree and Post Graduate colleges are asked to apply in order to make them benefitted under this scheme. The followings are the terms and eligibility conditions to apply for the benefits of the scheme:
- The applicant must be a citizen of Uttar Pradesh having a valid residence certificate issued by the competent govt. authority.
- The annual income of the applicant family should not be more than rupees three lakhs.
- There must be only two children in the family of the beneficiary of this scheme.
- Only two girls of a family can have the benefits of this scheme.
- If the twins are born in a family at the time of the second time of child bearing in a family, the girl born as the third child will also be given the benefits under this scheme. If a woman bears a female child in her first pregnancy and two female children are born in the second pregnancy, then under this condition all three girls will be given benefits under this scheme.
- If a family has adopted an orphan female child, then including all other alive children of the family, maximum two girls, may be considered eligible for the benefits of this scheme.
Kanya Sumangla Yojana covers six categories of girls. Under this scheme the classification of beneficiary and the amount have been fixed by the state Government. In Degree College category sixth is applicable. Those girls who after passing their 12th standard exams taken admissions in their graduate degree programme are given Rs. 5000/- (Rupees Five Thousand Only) at one time only.
The amount sanctioned by the govt. is transferred to the Bank Account of the beneficiaries by P.F.M.S. The application form is available on portal of Kanya Sumangla Yojna. The applicants must have photo copy of the Bank Passbook, Residence Certificate, Photo Indenti Proof, Family income certificate, Affidavit on prescribed format, latest photo and joint family photo. After submission of the duly completed application form on the website of the said portal, the students submit a copy of the application form in the college which is forwarded to the concerned Govt. authorities.
The office of the District Magistrate makes physical verification of the applicants and after that the amount is sent to the Bank Account of the applicants.
Our college prepares a list of eligible female students at the time of admissions on the basis of numbers of siblings in the family of the students. On the basis of faculty wise list of such female students a WhatsApp group is formed to help the girls under this scheme and their problems are solved accordingly.
Thus, it can be said that this scheme launched by the State Govt. supports the academic pursuits of the girls coming from the economically weaker sections by providing them financial support.
