Neutrino Experiments in a Nutshell

December 06, 2023

Speaker
Mr. Ibrahim Mirza,
The University of Tennessee, USA

Neutrino are the second most abundant known matter particles in the Universe. Neutrino interact only via weak force, this makes them harder to detect. Until today we know very little about neutrinos. The talk provided introductory aspects of the current and future experiments exploring neutrinos produced by different sources.

Dr. Aparna Dixit

PSIT, Kanpur

Virtual Labs project is an initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India under the aegis of National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). This project is a consortium activity of twelve participating institutes and IIT Delhi is coordinating institute. It is a paradigm shift in ICT-based education. IIT Kanpur has developed six such virtual labs.

Colloquium on

Learning Physics through Simple experiments

December 08, 2023

Padma Shree
Prof. H. C. Verma
IIT, Kanpur

Prof. Verma covers some basic principles of Physics and describes them through few simple experiments. It was quite an interactive session in which sometimes the phenomena was shown first, then in order to understand and analyze it, the theory was explained. In some cases it is the reverse. The discussion was roughly at UG first year level but the experiments could be an educative experience for students from grade 9 onwards. Most of these experiments throw some challenge to understand it, so even the well trained persons up to Postgraduate level will find it interesting!
