Late Devendra Swarup Ji was a versatile personality. On account of his sincerity, discipline and dedication to whatever job he had at hand he gained enormous reputation in the field of law, education, social work, politics etc. He was legal counsel to various administrative and Government bodies. He was not only a prominent lawyer but also a great educationist. For many years he had been the Chairman of recognition Committee and Member of Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, Uttar Pradesh. He remained the president of Arya Samaj, Kanpur till he joined the galaxy of stars in the sky. Apart from being the member Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh from 1967 to 1974 he was its Vice-President from 1970 to 1972. He had been Member, Board of Directors, S.B.I.; Director, Hindustan Commercial Bank, Kanpur and Vice-President of Upper India Chamber of Commerce. He was also the Member of Legislative Council of Uttar Pradesh from 1958 to 1964.
