Department of psychology has glorious past and splendid present. Department is setting new Benchmark in the pursuit of academic and research. The Department of Psychology was established at the undergraduate (U.G.) level in 1959 and the postgraduate (P.G.) level in 1967. It has been running successfully with flying colours from sixty-three years. The achievements taken by the faculties of the department are high. Department of Psychology achieved successful results at U.G. and P.G. levels, including merit holders at the university level. It is a matter of proud that the department consistently achieving Gold Medal at the P.G. level. Some students work in the government and private sectors in prestigious positions. In the session 2020-21, Ms. Aparna Shukla received a gold medal in P.G. at the university level. In the session of 2020-21, Ms. Gulfishan qualified for N.E.T. (U.G.C.). Garima Verma received gold medal. Garima Verma and Ayush Sonkar qualified   N.E.T. exam in the session of 2022-2023. 

Faculty Profile

Prof. Abha Singh

Prof. Abha Singh is presently working as a professor in the department of Psychology.   Students mentoring, inculcating value system, academic achievements and research are the strength of the department. Currently two research projects(2021 and 2022) have received in the department, as a principal investigator she is working on it. She has published 13 research papers in the last 5 years. In which 10 research papers has been published in UGC care. One chapter has been contributed in a national level book. One edited text book has published in sep.2023. In July 2019 she has presented research paper as an Invited Speaker at Calgary University, Canada and also received travel grant from U.G.C. In Feb. 2020. she has also presented paper in Asia Pacific School Psychology conference held at Colombo, Sri Lanka.

20 research papers have been presented at National, International seminars and webinars.  In the session 21-22 Pre Ph.D. course was coordinated by Dr Abha Singh.  ICSSR supported National seminar was convened by her on 5-6 November 2022.Many guests lecture and workshop has been organised by Dr Singh. Presently one research scholar is doing Ph.D. and two have submitted their thesis in July 2023 under her supervision and one has been awarded with Ph.D. in the year 2022.Curently two research scholar are perusing  Ph.D. under her Guidance.

Dr. Rashmi Mishra

Dr. Rashmi Mishra has published two research papers in peer-reviewed journals and two book chapters also. She has done one induction program, and two refresher courses in psychology (one offline mode and one online mode). She has done Five faculty development programs and two workshops – one on Research Methodology and one international workshop on “Social Issues During Covid -19: Challenges and Cures”. She has participated Webinar series on life skills education by the Indian School Psychology Association dated 4 to 26 March 2022 and 24 national webinar series between 13 July 2020 to 6 September 2020 on the Prevention of Suicides by the Indian Academy of Psychologists. She has attended a number of national and international conferences and presented approximately 20 research papers and chaired the session also in February 2020 her paper was adjudged as the best paper at APSPA (Asian Pacific School Psychology Association) conference held in Colombo.

Dr. Rizwana

Dr. Rizwana has attended 3 seminars. She has attended 2 webinars. She has attended 2conferences and 3 workshops. She has attended 1 orientation and 1 refresher course. She has taken classes of pre-Ph.D. of the year 21-22. Lastly, she has published one research paper and one article in book.

Dr. Manu Chauhan

Dr. Manu Chauhan has done his doctorate from University of Delhi on ICMR Fellowship. He had joined PPN PG College in July 2022. Before joining PPN College, he was working as Assistant professor in ad-hoc capacity in SACE, Delhi University from 2014.  He has participated in many conferences and Seminars and supervised 10 graduate dissertations. His primary area of interest includes Indian Psychology, Self, Media psychology and positive psychology.

ACTIVITIES

Department of psychology has been known for their academics, research, extension activities, psychological testing and counselling of students. Department has P.G. library with internet facility. Teachers have been using ICT, application of multimedia in their teaching methods. Approximately every year students of department have received gold medal at university level. Department has been providing help line service (2018) for the all students of college specially during exam. Department is active to organize programs related to applied part of psychology such as suicide prevention day and world mental health day. Under NEP Department has designed and coordinated vocational course (School Psychology) which is running successfully.

Recently organized National Seminar on women empowerment through resilience and open Happiness and well-being Centre at department.

ACHIVEMENT OF FACULTY

Dr. Manu Chauhan joined as new faculty member in department in July 2022.

He has been awarded with Ph.D. Degree in 2023 from university of Delhi.

Under the supervision of Prof. Abha Singh thesis had awarded to her research

scholar in 2022and two more thesis submitted under her supervision in July 2023.

Two minor research projects have been conducted by Prof. Abha Singh, as Principal Investigator.
