Departmental Activity

A special lecture was organized by the Department of Political Science, PPN PG College, Kanpur on April 25th, 2024 on the topic “Importance of voting in Nation Building”. Key Note Speaker of the program Prof. AK Verma (Director CSSP, Kanpur) emphasized the importance of voting rights. He noted that voting is the cornerstone of democracy, serving as the bedrock upon which nations are built. It empowers citizens to have a say in shaping their government, policies, and future. Through the act of voting, individuals exercise their rights and responsibilities as members of a democratic society. He highlighted that when citizens actively participate in elections, they contribute to the legitimacy of the government and the democratic process. By casting their votes, they express their preferences and hold their elected representatives accountable for their actions. This accountability fosters transparency, integrity, and trust in the governing institutions, thereby strengthening the foundation of the nation. Social Worker Shri Nuvendu Shukla underscored the importance of voter education and awareness campaigns in empowering citizens to make informed choices and actively participate in the electoral process.

Principal of the college Prof. Anoop Kumar Singh emphasized that voting is not merely a civic duty; it is a fundamental right and a powerful tool for nation-building. It empowers citizens to shape their collective destiny, uphold democratic values, and create a better future for generations to come. Convener of the program Prof. Rajesh Kumar stressed the need for electoral reforms to address issues of corruption, nepotism, and electoral malpractices, calling for greater transparency and accountability in the electoral process. He emphasized that the importance of voting extends beyond the individual level; it has profound implications for the overall development and progress of a nation. When citizens engage in the electoral process, they contribute to the stability and prosperity of their country. By participating in elections, they signal their support for democracy and reinforce the principles of freedom, equality, and justice. Organizing secretary of the program Dr. Anuj Kumar Mishra highlighted the importance of civic engagement beyond elections, emphasizing the need for sustained grassroots activism and community mobilization to address systemic issues and promote social change.
